Established in 2009, we are an organization of formerly incarcerated individuals who use our experience and knowledge to assist those who have been released from the prison system to navigate through the challenges of successful re-entry to their community.

what we can do for you

We have a resource center and a housing unit located in Waukegan, IL.

At our resource center, we can provide avenues to assist in obtaining identification, food stamps, mental and physical health and well-being, Spiritual guidance, resume writing services, and possible job leads as they become available to us. Our biggest resource is our experience and knowledge which we have gained, because we have been there, and through trial and error, done that.

We are self-funded through private donations, fundraising, and maintain a financial balancing act which usually falls short of us being able to complete our to-do list. We rely on volunteers that come in and teach weekly like-skills groups. Our Chaplain Richard VanArsdale leads weekly bible study/ALPHA program, and mentors our residents. Through a generous donation from Willow Creek of a passenger van we are able to transport residents to work, medical appointments, food pantries, and worship services.  Our office is staffed by volunteers and one paid employee who work countless hours muddling through the paperwork involved keeping a non-profit operating, as well as resident management, inmate correspondence, and coordinating releases with the individual prisons to ensure a smooth transition.

Don’t forget those in jail. Suffer with them as though you were there yourself. Share the sorrow of those being mistreated, for you know what they are going through.
— Hebrews 13:3
